It’s a Joy to Hear about a Past Student

Julian Rauter is my second student this year to get into Harvard! I’m so proud of both Julian and Cassandra Tischler Hastie.

Here is the email I received from Julian’s mom.

Kathy, I’ve been following your blog posts and wanted you to know where Julian is these days. He is both writer and linguistics student (language preservation and documentation) attending Harvard this fall for anthropology. His mentor Aaron Broadwell in Albany put him into the world of translating texts who blends his love of literature with a noble cause he is passionate about! He is in contact with Wade Davis of National Geo and hopes to do language preservation in First Nations of Canada and Oceania.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for taking care of his creative development in this early years when he came to school with you. It all adds up to a life poised to include always this human depth of art in the science and I think that’s better science.

Here is Julian with his Head in the Clouds piece from about 6 years ago.
